Family history website Findmypast has sent an email to past and current users warning that from sometime in September, previously viewed records in 'My records' will only be accessible with a valid subscription.
This means family historians with Findmypast accounts will need to be active subscribers to the website to view records stored in their 'My records' section, including those who accessed the site via a free trial or free access promotion or whose subscriptions have lapsed.
If you choose to subscribe, you'll have access only to the records included in your subscription. You may need to upgrade to view others.
The history of the records you searched will be retained in your account, so you won’t lose track of your progress and previously viewed records.
The email states they'll update users on the exact date when this change is planned for closer to the time.
If you're affected by this change you should download any records you need before 31 August to be on the safe side.
